Repetição

Repetido.
Repetido.
Repetido.
Tudo se repete.
Repete?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Repeated.
Repeated.
Repeated.
Everything repeats itself.
Does it?
But...
I learned in Philosophy
that
it's impossible
to bathe in the same waters of any river.
Por favor...
...Expliquem-me "como se eu fosse muito burra!"
Porque é que ...
... há lutas que não se evitam?
... há mortes que não se explicam?
... há Amizades que acabam?
... há invejas que não têm porquê?
... há atitudes que agridem?
... há palavras que ferem?
... há indiferença que faz doer?
... há partilha que não existe?
... há decisões que têm que ser?
... há crianças a sofrer?
... há pessoas que o não são?
... há caras com muitas caras?
... há medos?
... há cobardias?
... há picardias?
Porquê?
Porquê ser assim?
Expliquem-me então a mim
em jeito " de expliquem-me com se eu fosse muito burra".
Creio não poder compreender mesmo assim.
Sou burra?
Acho que sim!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
... Explain it all to me "as if I were really dumb!"
Why is it that
... there are fights you can't avoid?
... there are deaths you don't explain?
... there is Friendship that is no more Friendship?
... there's envy you can't understand?
... there are attitudes that cause pain?
... there are words that hurt?
... there's painful indifference?
... there's sharing that isn't sharing?
... there are decisions you must make?
... there are children suffering?
... there are people who aren't people?
... there are faces with many faces?
... there are fears?
... there's cowardice?
... there's mean fighting?
... Why?
... Why is it so?
So please explain to me in the "as if I were really dumb"way.
I don't think you'll be able to make me understand it all if you do so.
Am I really dumb?
I bet I am!

Melancolia triste

Soube ontem...
A I. foi a enterrar hoje,
Domingo,
numa manhã gélida de Inverno.
Tinha 23 anos.

I was told about it yesterday.
I. was buried today,
Sunday,
in a freezing Winter morning.
She was 23 years old.

Metáfora

Há renovação no seio da Natureza
mesmo que o frio tente secar
os vasos da Vida
que são as veias de seiva borbulhante
que corre nos rebentos a surgir.
Metáfora do meu desejo para o campo do Sentir.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There's renovation in Nature's bosom
even if the cold attempts to dry up
Life vessels
which are bubbling sap veins
which flows all through the newly born sprouts.
Metaphor for my wish concerning Feeling.
Álvaro de Campos
O Sono
O sono que desce sobre mim,
O sono mental que desce fisicamente sobre mim,
O sono universal que desce individualmente sobre mim —
Esse sono
Parecerá aos outros o sono de dormir,
O sono da vontade de dormir,
O sono de ser sono.
Mas é mais, mais de dentro, mais de cima:
E o sono da soma de todas as desilusões,
É o sono da síntese de todas as desesperanças,
É o sono de haver mundo comigo lá dentro
Sem que eu houvesse contribuído em nada para isso.
O sono que desce sobre mim
É contudo como todos os sonos.
O cansaço tem ao menos brandura,
O abatimento tem ao menos sossego,
A rendição é ao menos o fim do esforço,
O fim é ao menos o já não haver que esperar.
Há um som de abrir uma janela,
Viro indiferente a cabeça para a esquerda
Por sobre o ombro que a sente,
Olho pela janela entreaberta:
A rapariga do segundo andar de defronte
Debruça-se com os olhos azuis à procura de alguém.
De quem?,
Pergunta a minha indiferença.
E tudo isso é sono.
Meu Deus, tanto sono! ...
Álvaro de Campos
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The sleep that comes over me

The sleep that comes over me,
The mental sleep that physically hits me,
The universal sleep that personally overcomes me -
To others
Such a sleep must seem a sleep to fall asleep in,
The sleep of someone wanting to go to sleep,
The very sleep that is sleep.

But it's more, it goes deeper, higher than that:
It's the sleep encompassing every disappointement,
It's the sleep of feeling there's a world within me
Without my having said yes or not to it.

Yet the sleep that comes over me
Is just like ordinary sleep.
Being tired at least softens you,
Being run-down at least quiets you,
Being up at least quiets you,
Giving up at least puts an end to trying,
And the end at least is giving up having to hope.

There's the sound of a window opening.
Indifferent, I turn my head to the left,
Looking over the shoulder that felt it,
And seen though the half-opened window
The girl on the third floor across the street
Leaning out, her blue eyes searching for someone.
Who?
My indifference asks.
And all this is sleep.

My God, so much sleep!...

Don't count on my saying anything about today concerning politics because I'm really fed up with this election thing!
I've deliberately chosen ...
MOZART!
I bought this book today.
It's a cutie for the pics and it evens hides a CD inside.
Two pleasures in one!

Escolhas

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There are many stories in Life.
Where you play an importan role or where you just haven't got any at all anymore.
You must know when to leave those stories where you were proved you don't belong anymore.
You must be bold enough to do so.
There are decisions you make caused by realities you guess, you believe they exist, you take as wrong.
But they are realities until they are proved not to be as you take them to.
Once you make up your mind and act, you have got to face the forthcoming consequences.
It is impossible to get back because you won't ever be able to have it as it was before.
The only wayout is wait until a sun beam shines and warms your heart up somewhere else.
Li, gostei, publiquei!
de profundis amamus
Ontem às onze
fumaste
um cigarro
encontrei-te
sentado
ficámos para perder
todos os teus eléctricos
os meus
estavam perdidos
por natureza própria
Andámos
dez quilómetros
a pé
ninguém nos viu passar
excepto
claro
os porteiros
é da natureza das coisas
ser-se visto
pelos porteiros
Olha
como só tu sabes olhar
a rua os costumes
O Público
o vinco das tuas calças
está cheio de frio
é há quatro mil pessoas interessadas
nisso
Não faz mal abracem-me
os teus olhos
de extremo a extremo azuis
vai ser assim durante muito tempo
decorrerão muitos séculos antes de nós
mas não te importes
muito
nós só temos a ver
com o presente
perfeito
corsários de olhos de gato intransponível
maravilhados maravilhosos únicos
nem pretérito nem futuro tem
o estranho verbo nosso
de profundis amamus
Yesterday
at eleven
you smoked
a cigarette
I found you
sitting there
we stayed and missed
all your streetcars
mine
by their very nature
were missed
We walked
five miles
no one saw us go by
except
of course
the doormen
it’s in the nature of things
to be seen
by doormen
Look
as only you know how
at the street manners
The Public
the crease in your trousers
is shivering
and four thousand people are interested
in this
It’s all right hug me
with the perfectly blue circles
of your eyes
it will be this way for a long time
many centuries will arrive before we do
but don’t worry
don’t worry
too much
we have only to do
with the present
perfect
pirates with the
wonder-struck wondrous unique
eyes of an impassible cat
our strange verb
has no past or future
Andei à procura e encontrei Sophia...
Fúrias
Escorraçadas do pecado e do sagrado
Habitam agora a mais íntima humildade
Do quotidiano. São
Torneira que se estraga atraso de autocarro
Sopa que transborda na panela
Caneta que se perde aspirador que não aspira
Táxi que não há recibo estraviado
Empurrão cotovelada espera
Burocrático desvario
Sem clamor sem olhar
Sem cabelos eriçados de serpentes
Com as meticulosas mãos do dia-a-dia
Elas nos desfiam
Elas são a peculiar maravilha do mundo moderno
Sem rosto e sem máscara
Sem nome e sem sopro
São as hidras de mil cabeças da eficácia que se avaria
Já não perseguem sacrílegos e parricidas
Preferem vítimas inocentes
Que de forma nenhuma as provocaram
Por elas o dia perde seus longos planos lisos
Seu sumo de fruta
Sua fragrância de flor
Seu marinho alvoroço
E o tempo é transformado
Em tarefa e pressa
A contratempo
Furies
Banished from sin and the sacred
Now they inhabit the humble intimacy
Of daily life. They are
The leaky faucet the late bus
The soup that boils over
The lost pen the vacuum that doesn’t vacuum
The taxi that doesn’t come the mislaid receipt
Shoving pushing waiting
Bureaucratic madness
Without shouting or staring
Without bristly serpent hair
With the meticulous hands of the day-to-day
They undo us
They’re the peculiar wonder of the modern world
Faceless and maskless
Nameless and breathless
The thousand-headed hydras of efficiency gone haywire
They no longer pursue desecrators and parricides
They prefer innocent victims
Who did nothing to provoke them
Thanks to them the day loses its smooth expanses
Its juice of ripe fruits
Its fragrance of flowers
Its high-sea passion
And time is transformed
Into toil and the rush
Against time
Pensamento...
O que está além ou aquém de nós
não tem grande importância
quando comparado ao que está dentro de nós.
Era uma vez...
Era uma vez
uma cara para a qual se pensava não haver máscara que servisse.
A cara existia.
Mas a máscara existia também .
Era tão máscara que aderiu à cara para a qual se pensava não haver máscara que servisse.
A cara e a máscara existiam.
Um dia
a máscara caiu.
A cara que não era máscara
era a máscara sem cara.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Once upon a time
there was a face which was thought to have no suitable mask.
The face existed.
But the mask existed too.
It was such a mask that it got glued to the face which was thought to have no suitable mask.
Face and mask existed.
One day the mask fell off.
The face which wasn't mask
was the mask without face.

Janeiras

*Cantemos as Janeiras *

Cantemos as Janeiras.

Elevemos nossas vozes

Em melodias tradicionais

Em palavras banais

Em notas frugais

Cantemos as Janeiras.

Façamos das lágrimas forças

Dos medos ânimo

E cantemos.

Cantemos as Janeiras.

Apaziguemos os terrores

Com renovados Amores

E cantemos.

Cantemos as Janeiras

Em Janeiro

de Alma cheia

Partamos rumo ao Sonho

E cantemos.

Elevemos nossas vozes

Em melodias tradicionais

Em palavras banais

Em notas frugais
Cantemos as Janeiras.
Cantei as Janeiras à minha maneira!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In some regions of the country, carolers sing Christmas carols (called "Janeiras") in the streets.
The above Poem is not one of those sang by the carolers from door to door; It's only the way I found to make an appeal to carry on with this tradition which is almost gone in big urban centres.
Textos
No Livro da Vida
há textos de vários teores
que ficam em folha marcada
pelo Afecto, Partilha, Emoção, Dádiva.
Há outros
que também têm folha marcada
pela deslealdade, ingratidão,
que trazem à Nossa História
o travo amargo de recordar o que nos magoa.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In the Book of Life
there are texts of different kinds
which have a page folded
by Affection, Sharing, Emotion, Giving.
There are others
which also show a page
folded by disloyalty, ingratitude,
which bring to our History
a bitter flavour of recollecting what hurts.

Agucei a curiosidade? Então vá... façam o favor de espreitar

The institution where I work is one century old this year.
The celebration of the 100th aniversary will start
next Wednesday, Jan 4th.
This is my second home and it's always got an unexplanable something the many generations who spent here some years of their lives can't get rid of.
Many return to recollect that "there was this here and we experienced that there".
The memories of those who have passed away also get more vivid and it's all as it was before.
And I ... I am very proud to have the privilege of working here.
Have I made you curious? If so... have a go and peep

HERE

However... you won't unfortunately find information in English but the pics are worth to be seen.
