Cadeias
Das cadeias que nos prendem uns aos outros,
ficam
aquelas que nos unem nos afectos e ternura, nas emoções e sentimentos.
As outras,
as que nos trazem dor e prisão,
não são mais do que meras sombras do mal
que nos querem e que nos queremos.~~~~~~~~~~Of all the chains which link us to one another,
the ones to remain are
those which keep as together, the chains of affection and tenderness, of emotion and feeling.
The others,
those which bring us pain and confinement,
are nothing else but
shadows of evil
others wish us
and we wish ourselves.
